Warf takes Memorial Day Sprint race at Rocky Mountain Raceways
WEST VALLEY CITY – Idaho racer Bryan Waft drove his No. 8 car to victory Monday night in the Orchex Western SprintCar Series race at Rocky Mountain Raceways.
Warf, from Meridian, Idaho, began the 30-lap race in the fifth position, but quickly worked his way to the front of the pack. He took the lead on lap No. 3 and never let it go.
Warf hit a top speed of 103.290 on the 3/8-mile America First Credit Union Super Oval. He best lap was 13.070.
Ryan Burdett, of West Valley City, took second place, finishing less than a second behind Warf. Eric Humphries finished third and Sierra Jackson came in fourth after making a furious late push.
In other action of the AFCU Super Oval, Don Massie won the 15-lap Orchex Western SprintCar Series crate-motor race, besting Chuck Groat and Tim Powell.
Kevin Winders won the 15-lap 4 Bangers race, finishing ahead of Mike Sivak and Jayden Park.
In the Midget car main event, Michael Daniels beat Jimmy Waters and Chuck Groat.
In the exciting Mini Cup main, Skylar Sevey edged out his father, Donny, by .3 seconds. Levi Rider took third place.
Skylar Douglas won the 15-lap Sommers Auto Wrecking Hornets competition, besting Tyler Green and Bill Butcher.
