WEST VALLEY CITY ‒ Rocky Mountain Raceways has hired former North Davis Fire District captain Brandon Stone as its new Safety and Security Director, General Manager Mike Eames announced Monday.

“We are very happy to have Brandon join our amazing team here at RMR,” Eames said. “Brandon’s lengthy history in fire protection, emergency extraction, and training will be a huge asset to our safety team, which is one of the best in the country.  I know he’s excited to meet all of our talented racers and to learn more about their racing operations.”

Stone worked for the North Davis Fire District for 14 years, beginning in 2001.  Hampered by a torn labrum in his left shoulder in 2014, Stone underwent three surgeries and a partial replacement before retiring from the fire department in 2016.

Stone is a Utah native and a Layton High School graduate.

His experience in fire protection is extensive and specifically includes extrication.  He also was involved as an instructor in firefighter training program at Davis Applied Technology College.

Stone has already begun to settle in with his new responsibilities and is looking forward to the start of the 2017 season, which will officially kick off the first weekend in April.  There is a motocross practice scheduled for April 7, with a race with the Wild West Series slated for April 8 and 9.

A drag test and tune is also planned for April 8 on the Young Kia Drag Strip.
