Mash on the gas and/or a twist of the wrist!

Dear RMR racing fan,

What a crazy start to our 19th season here at Rocky Mountain Raceways! After an incredibly mild winter, our old nemesis, Mother Nature, has been quite the deterrent.

On February 1st, we had Jeff Isbell’s Pro Stocker on the drag strip doing burnouts while all of us were in short sleeve shirts.  Go figure.

Things are in full swing here at our venue. Our first America First Credit Union Super Oval event was well attended and the racing was stellar.  Reigning Maverik Modified Champion Mark Ith Jr. carried his momentum from last year to pick up the first main event win of 2015.  And of course our Figure 8 Trailer Wars didn’t disappoint.

Kudos to Bob Carpenter and our whole facility staff cleaning up that crazy mess!

But unfortunately rain continues to plague the Young Kia Drag Strip.  We have lost one midnight event, two Summit Super Series races, and one of our junior races had to be postponed after a couple rounds of racing.  Our next major event on the drag side will be on May 23rd as we bring the Jet Car Spring Nationals to town.  It’s sure to be a thrilling as 12 Jets will thrill the capacity crowd while lighting up the West Valley City sky!

Curt Stewart and his Motocross track have also been dodging the weather.  We have lost a couple of races due to poor riding conditions.  Our Mini MX League, presented in conjunction with The Edge Powersports has continued to grow.  We had close to 140 riders at our first event. That bodes well for the future of Motocross in the state.

Looking ahead, our 2015 schedule is full of great events!  On Saturday, May 16th, we bring the Big Rig’s here for the first time and it figures to be awesome. After all, we’re talking semi’s on the oval!  It is going to be completely insane!  They put on a great show everywhere they go and I am thrilled to have them race with us.  We pride ourselves on being a unique entertainment facility suitable for the whole family!   We have many can’t miss events coming up on our calendar.  Make sure you check them out at

Finally, it saddens me to hear of the closure of Miller Motorsports Park.  They have a world-class facility.  We love racing of all kinds and it totally sucks when any track, regardless of location, decides to lock the gates.  I personally feel terrible for all the employees, the racers that compete, and all their patrons.

I always welcome questions and comments.  My e-mail is:

Go fast and be safe,
