RMR will light up July with fireworks, Jet Cars and Lucas Oil Modifieds

We’ll ask the question, even though we already know the answer.

Do you like firewCRD_6751orks?

Of course you do.

Us, too.

In fact, at Rocky Mountain Raceways, the only thing we like better than racing is fireworks AND racing.

Come to think of it, the only things better than racing and fireworks, are MORE racing and MORE fireworks. If you feel the same way, you’ll want to check out what we’ve got coming up in July.

We’ll celebrate Independence Day as well as Pioneer Day with fast cars, fireworks, and of course, fun.

It’ll fire up on July 2 with the Copper Cup Classic on the America First Credit Union Super Oval. That means a bunch of ferocious-sounding Super Modifieds, plus Sprint Cars, Midgets and the always-exciting Brandon Park Roofing F-8 Trains.

And when the racing ends, the fireworks show will begin.

Later on in the month, we’ve got more of the same planned.CRD_7224

July 22 on the motocross track, it’s time for the high-flying show known as Pioneer Extravaganza. There will be a ton of super-cool dirt bikes and lots of high-pitched awesomeness followed by – you guessed it – another fabulous fireworks show.

On the 23rd, we’ll light up the night with one of biggest, baddest and loudest events we’ve ever had: Horsepower Heaven.

Most seasons, HPH is a pretty awesome show with ground-pounding action on both the AFCU Super Oval as well as the Young Kia Drag Strip. This year, because it’s our 20th anniversary, we’re making it even more special.

How special? We’re talking 20 Jet Cars on the drag strip and the Lucas Oil Modifieds on the oval, that’s in addition CRD_6745to Fastlane Machine Top Sportsman and Performance Place Top Dragster racing, plus K1 Speed Super Stocks.

And of course, if all that horsepower weren’t enough, we’ve also got another fireworks show on the schedule.

So, to recap, we’re celebrating the month of July with three fireworks shows, 20 Jet Cars, Lucas Oil Modifieds, a bunch of dirt bikes and lots, lots more.

Like we always say, the only thing better than racing, is racing AND fireworks. And the only thing better than racing and fireworks, is MORE OF BOTH!

Modified Shootout on tap for Saturday on the America First Credit Union Super Oval

WEST VALLEY CITY ‒ Rocky Mountain Raceways is set to fire up another edition of the RMR Oval Racing Series on Saturday, and the night will be highlighted by an event dubbed the Modified Shootout.

Set on the 3/8-mile America First Credit Union Super Oval, the Modified Shootout figures to be a firecracker of a contest that goes only 25 laps, considerably fewer than other races – 40, 50, 75 and 618MOD64even 100 laps – involving Maverik Mods.  Instead, this one will involve upwards of 18-20 snarling Modifieds going through regular qualifying, followed by a series of six or seven 3-car heat races.

The end game is to have those heat races yield a small group of main-event qualifiers.  Adding to the intrigue will be a “last chance” race for all non-qualifiers.  The top finishers from that race will earn bids into the Shootout.

In addition to the Maverik Modifieds, the AFCU Super Oval will have K1 Speed Super Stocks, Super 6 Sprints, Sommer’s Auto Wrecking Hornets and Tucker Towing Double Deckers.

Gates open at 4 p.m., qualifying at 5, heat races at 6 and main events at 7:30.

Friday at RMR, the Young Kia Drag Strip will heat up for the Midnight Drags (6 p.m.-midnight).  There will also be Quarter Midget racing on the AFCU Super Oval (8 p.m.-dusk) and a practice on the MX track (6 p.m.-dusk).

RMR Oval Racing Series heats up like the summertime weather

Oval racing will return to Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, and the American First Credit Union Super Oval will heat up just like the weather.

After sitting out last weekend in favor of the popular drag racing showcase “Funny Car Fever,” the AFCU Super Oval will take center stage with RMR Oval Racing Series racing. The event will feature five exciting race classes: Maverik Modifieds, University Federal Credit Union Sprints, Midgets, Mini Cups and Tucker Towing Double Deckers.

Practices will start at 3:30 PM, qualifying kicks off at 5, with heat races at 6 and features going off at 7:25.

Maverik Modifieds in action

Rocky Mountain Raceways will also feature Summit ET Series racing on the Young Kia Drag Strip on Friday, plus motocross racing on the MX track.

Cars will be on drag strip at 4:30 PM. MX racing starts at 6:15 PM.

More racing is scheduled for Saturday morning with a Jr. Drag Racing Series competition beginning at 9 AM.

Looking ahead, next week will feature Jr. Drag Racing Series action and an oval test and tune on Wednesday; Friday will bring an MX practice, Quarter Midget racing and a Midnight Drag Bash. Another RMR Oval Racing Series event is on tap for Saturday, June 25.
